The Battle Museum

Palazzo Marzocco houses the "Museo della Battaglia di Anghiari".
The first floor of the Battle Museum is dedicated to the famous battle “of Anghiari” fought on the 29th June 1440 between the Florentine and Milanese armies. Leonardo da Vinci, entrusted with the drawing of a cartoon for a commemorative fresco in Palazzo della Signoria in Florence, painted the fresco using a special technique which unfortunately led to the loss of this work.

The other sections illustrate the production of local ceramics, while in the Sala dei Codici there are reproductions of the Taglieschi and Corsi codes, from the 17th and 18th centuries respectively.
