The Crete Senesi

There are other interesting monuments to be found spread all over the countryside of the Crete Senesi. One is the Rofeno Abbey, where all that is left are romantic ruins, the Castle of Gallico, once a “grangia” (fortified farm) of the Spedale of Siena, Palazzo Venturi, the tower of the Castle of Montaceto, the village of Montecalvoli and the small town of Monte Sante Marie.

There are many ways to enjoy this landscape, by car, by motorbike, on a bicycle or even by train, taking the Val d’Orcia tourist line. This is a “nature” train which has a circular run Siena - Monte Amiata - Monte Antico - Buonconvento - Siena in almost three hours.
