The central part has
kept a few traces of the ancient walls, with two gates, but the rest
of the town is the result of reconstruction after the earthquake.
The Palazzo del Podestà, which today houses the municipal library
and historic archive, has been rebuilt salvaging part of the
original decoration. The façade has the coats of arms of the
“podestà” who have held successive power here. The Palazzo Comunale
(Town Hall), with decorations by Manifattura Chini, looks out on a
beautiful square surrounded by trees.

The Pieve of San Lorenzo
The Pieve, dedicated to the patron saint of the town, dates back
to the 10th century. It has the foundations of a basilica with a
central nave and two aisles; the interior has several paintings and
frescoes, among them a Madonna which has recently been attributed to
Giotto.
The vault of the apse has a work by Galileo Chini. Another feature
of interest is the brick bell tower, which has an irregular
hexagonal shape and which rises straight from the apse. The
Tabernacle of San Francesco is on the right of the façade and is
also the work of the Chini family.
The Church of San Francesco
Recently restored after centuries of being abandoned, is a
charming unique nave vaulted by wooden beams.
