San Biagio

Outside the walls, under the town, stands one of the most important Renaissance buildings in Italy, the Tempio di San Biagio, built on a design by Antonio da Sangallo the Elder, from 1518.
The base, a symmetrical cross, the travertine stone covering and the inclusion of columns, pilaster strips and the recesses show a search for a classical, universal model.

The setting is also particularly romantic with a lawn that surrounds the building. Worth noting also is the façade of the presbytery, at the edge of the lawn.
